Action Learning sessions
Four to eight people across levels, a problem you choose, and ninety minutes. The session ends with assigned actions, and a follow-up session checks what was done.
How a session worksIn meetings, everyone starts defending a position from the first minute. In Action Learning, a statement can only be made in response to a question, and the stated problem gradually gives way to the real problem.

Mourad leads. Nadia, Karim, Leila and Yacine work with him. In this demonstration, your role is to ask the questions. Select a seat to choose who you want to address.
This is not a questionnaire: the simulation shows how the quality of questions changes access to information.

A statement is made only in response to a question.
Anyone can ask a question of any other participant. This pushes the group to understand the problem before defending solutions.
The coach may intervene when an opportunity for learning appears.
The coach’s authority concerns the process, not the content of the problem. The coach may pause the group to make visible a dynamic, habit or way of working that deserves examination.
The coach is not there to solve the problem for the group. The coach protects the rules and may pause the session when a learning opportunity appears, helping the group reflect on how it works together. This process discipline is at the heart of the role.

How a session worksTen games, from twenty minutes to two hours. The team plays a first round as it normally works, debriefs, receives tools, and plays again.
See the ten gamesYour own people learn to facilitate internal sessions so the method can live inside the organisation without depending on an external facilitator for every problem.

You do not become a facilitator by listening to people talk about facilitation. This internal pathway gradually gives you more responsibility in the session until you can lead it independently. It is built around practice, observation and supervision.
You observe a session without intervening. You notice especially what the facilitator does not do.
